Job Title:-Building Safety Manager
Contract Duration: 3 Months
Hours Per Week: 36

Work Pattern: 2/3 days in the office
Role Purpose:

  • Council is seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager to play a critical role in ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 across our portfolio of Higher Risk Buildings.

  • Reporting to the Principal Building Safety Manager, you will lead on building safety compliance, risk management and resident engagement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a building safety professional with extensive knowledge of current legislation and experience within residential property, housing, construction, or local government environments.

Key Responsibilities

As Building Safety Manager, you will:

  • Prepare and submit Building Assessment Certificate (BAC) applications for Higher Risk Buildings.

  • Develop and maintain Safety Case Reports, Resident Engagement Strategies and Mandatory Occurrence Reporting systems.

  • Produce and maintain building safety risk assessments relating to fire and structural failure.

  • Identify hazards, assess risks and implement effective control measures.

  • Escalate deficiencies and non-compliance issues where controls are inadequate.

  • Create, review and maintain emergency plans for Higher Risk Buildings.

  • Liaise with the Building Safety Regulator through the designated contact.

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations.

  • Partner closely with Fire Safety and Development teams to maintain the Golden Thread of Building Information.

  • Undertake building inspections and report on defects, risks and required improvement works.

  • Support procurement activities and contribute to client briefs where improvement works are required.

  • Provide specialist building safety advice across the organisation.

  • Deliver building safety awareness training to internal stakeholders.

  • Support planning, building control and listed building consent processes when required.

  • Attend resident meetings and promote a positive building safety culture within council's housing stock.

-Essential Experience, Extensive knowledge of:

  • Building Safety Act 2022

  • Fire Safety Act 2021

  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

  • Relevant fire safety guidance and compliance frameworks

  • Experience managing residential buildings and building operations.

  • Experience of construction projects and programmes.

  • Knowledge of legislation relating to residential buildings and construction activities.

  • Experience of delivering excellent customer-focused services.

  • Experience working within local government, housing, construction management, building surveying, project management or contract administration environments.

  • Experience using compliance management systems and reporting software.

  • Experience engaging with residents, leaseholders, elected members and senior stakeholders.
