Overview
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking a Service Engineer on behalf of our client.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ex-military engineer or service leaver looking to transfer their technical and hands-on experience into a rewarding civilian engineering career.
Our client is particularly interested in candidates from an engineering background, where strong mechanical/electrical skills, fault-finding ability, discipline and a high standard of work have been developed.
Full training will be provided on the company's specialist equipment, making this an excellent opportunity for a service leaver looking to build a long-term career within the specialist plant and crane industry.
The role will primarily be based at the main depot in Rushden, with occasional travel to the Durham yard and customer sites when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance on plant and specialist equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults both in the yard and on customer sites.
- Respond to breakdowns and provide effective technical solutions.
- Ensure all servicing and repair work is completed to a high standard and fully documented.
- Ensure equipment leaving the yard is safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
- Provide first-line technical support to engineers, sales teams, office staff and customers.
- Maintain yard plant and assist with stock and parts requirements.
- Support the safe loading, unloading and storage of tower cranes.
- Follow all ISO, Health & Safety and company procedures.
Skills & Experience
- Ex-military background
- mechanical or electrical maintenance experience.
- Experience with heavy plant, construction equipment or similar machinery desirable.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach to engineering.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work with both customers and internal teams.
- Strong focus on quality, safety and getting the job done correctly.
- Able to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
