The Role

We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer to join the on-site engineering team at a large hospital estate in Newcastle.

This is a site-based position responsible for the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair of a wide range of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment throughout a busy healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Service, maintenance and fault finding on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and commercial refrigeration equipment.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance across critical and non-critical hospital areas.
  • Diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
  • Undertaking small installation and remedial works where required.
  • Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring compliance with statutory and site-specific regulations.
  • Supporting the wider engineering team in maintaining the hospital's mechanical services infrastructure.
  • Participating in the site's call-out rota.
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with healthcare and HTM compliance standards.

The Person

The successful candidate will be an experienced Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineer with a strong background in service, maintenance and fault finding.

Essential Requirements:

  • F-Gas Category 1 Certification.
  • Proven experience working on split systems, VRV/VRF systems, chillers and refrigeration equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Excellent understanding of planned and reactive maintenance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled engineering team.
  • Experience within hospitals, healthcare environments or other critical facilities would be advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience.
